What a racket they’ve got going…

Boston towing services must make an absolute mint. I was sitting working on various projects today from a vantage point that let me see up and down Park Drive. Along this street is residential parking, and while I was working I was able to spy a tow truck hooking up to a Yellow VW Beetle that it was going to tow. As the tow truck driver was doing this, a young kid comes running down the street in jeans and a hat (no shirt, no shoes screaming “No don’t do this man.” He arrived on scene and through my open window I heard him pleading with him not to tow the car saying things like, “Please man, it’s my girlfriend’s car. She just let me borrow it,” “I was going to move it, I just got caught up in an email for work,” “please, she’s had a really bad week,” etc.
After about 8 minutes of desperate pleading (which the tow truck driver was completely ignoring as he went about his business), the driver said $200 cash and he’ll leave it. The kid agreed and went running back to his apt. to get the money. This amazed me for two reasons, first, that the kid had $200 in cash laying around his apartment, and 2) that the driver gets $200 cash with no record of receiving it or anything. The latter of these two points is even more amazing when you take into consideration that after he let down the kids car, he drove THREE CARS forward and started towing another car (nobody came to save it). So basically, Boston towing services must make just an unimaginable amount of money, which made me wonder, why don’t they invest it in expanding Boston’s parking options?

Hi faithful followers! I’m guessing there is at least 1 of you out there anyways. I flew into Boston last Tuesday and have been here since then. I spent Thursday and Friday working, wednesday doing a literature review that is never ending, stopped by Bentley for an afternoon, watched a few movies and was fortunate enough to finally fix my other xbox which gives me a new project to work on in modifying a new case. I spent the week with Katie of course and have a Charles River boat cruise tomorrow for dinner through her work that could be fun. I bought 2 pairs of jeans. I also got to walk around the set for The Town which was being filmed on boylston street right by the machine and the Howard Johnson.
In IPS news, I found a new iphone game that was recommended by Megan Fox called Sally Spa. Its addicting, easy and fun, so what more could you ask for right? I also got an iTouch courtesy of my last consulting HFIDO project so I’m pretty excited to play with that.
I fly home Tuesday morning and have class after. Bye!
